Oldtown : Overview
Mile 166.7 on the C&O Canal
Oldtown is 18 miles south of Cumberland along the C&O Canal. This unincorporated small town features a schoolhouse-turned-café called the Schoolhouse Kitchen. Customers dine in the former cafeteria, where class portraits still adorn the walls. The same building hosts the Old School Restoration auto shop. Other local attractions include Lockhouse 70, one of several along the Canal, and the home of Thomas Cresap, a feared 1800s border ruffian known as the “Maryland Monster.”
The town has few available commercial properties, but certainly opportunity awaits for investors looking for business potential on the northern end of the canal.
