The Great Allegheny Passage crosses over the Casselman River on a 226 foot long old RR bridge covered by a new wooden deck. That’s at Milepost 61 in the Trail Town of Confluence. From the middle of the bridge crossing, you can see the old 2-story yellow school on the far right bank.
Immersion Research, an outdoor gear manufacturer occupies the 1st floor. The “Old School Store” offers a personalized shopping experience when you need the best dry tops, paddle jackets, pants and spray skirts. The owners of Immersion Research and the old school are the Weld’s. Now, with their 6th loan from The Progress Fund, they have transformed the 2nd floor of the school into a sophisticated large 2-bedroom overnight accommodation with incredible views of the GAP and Casselman. This is a one-of-a-kind place on the GAP to stay.
Another improvement to the old school was installation of solar panels with our funding.
We are very proud that the Weld’s keep returning again and again to The Progress Fund, now the 6th time, to build their outdoor recreational businesses.
